Automation software giant UiPath has acquired Peak, a SoftBank-backed data analytics startup, in a move to enhance its AI automation capabilities. The UK-based company’s technology will serve as the foundation for UiPath’s AI agents, helping businesses optimize pricing, inventory, and workflow automation.

UiPath announced the acquisition on Thursday, emphasizing its commitment to expanding AI solutions. CEO Daniel Dines highlighted how Peak’s AI will accelerate industry-specific automation strategies.

“With the acquisition of Peak, we are accelerating our mission to strengthen our vertical AI solutions strategy,” Dines stated.
“When combined with the UiPath platform, Peak’s exceptional purpose-built AI applications will enhance our ability to provide solutions that optimise industry-specific use cases and deliver incredible value to customers.”

Founded in 2014, Peak specializes in AI-powered workflows, predictive analytics, and process optimization. Over the years, it secured $117 million in funding from notable investors such as SoftBank, Octopus Ventures, and Praetura, making it one of Manchester’s most well-funded tech startups.

UiPath, known for its robotic process automation (RPA) solutions, enables businesses to automate critical tasks across departments, including accounting, human resources, and customer service. The company employs 4,000 professionals and serves 10,000 global businesses, with major clients like British Airways, Canon, EY, and Uber.

UiPath, originally founded in Romania in 2005, has raised $2 billion in funding before going public in 2021, according to Dealroom. CEO Daniel Dines previously told Sifted in December that the company is heavily investing in expanding its agentic AI offerings.

By integrating Peak’s AI technology, UiPath aims to redefine business automation, offering smarter, more efficient solutions to streamline operations. This acquisition reinforces UiPath’s position as a leader in AI-powered automation, delivering advanced tools to help businesses optimize decision-making and productivity.
