Women’s health continues to face systemic gaps — both in funding and in focus. Despite accounting for half the population, women receive just 2% of global medical research funding for female-specific health concerns. That imbalance extends to the startup world, where all-female founding teams in the UK secured only 2% of equity investment last year. Against this backdrop, Hormona is leading a new era in hormonal health, putting powerful tools into the hands of women and challenging a healthcare system that has long overlooked them.

Hormona, a London-based health tech company, just closed a $6.7 million seed round, led by Voima Ventures and co-led by SuperNode Global VC. Other investors in the round include DLF Ventures, along with Nascent Invest and Techstars, bringing the company’s total funding to over $11 million. The new capital will supercharge Hormona’s expansion, support the rollout of its proprietary hormone tests, and deepen its B2B reach while enhancing marketing, infrastructure, and customer experience.

Backing this next chapter are Inka Mero from Voima Ventures and Gina King from SuperNode — both experienced operators in health-tech and female-focused innovation. They’ll be joining Hormona’s all-women board as the company scales its impact worldwide.

A Personal Health Battle Sparked a Global Vision

Hormona’s story began with a personal struggle. Co-founder and CEO Karolina Löfqvist faced years of confusion and misdiagnosis due to hormone imbalances — an all-too-common reality, given that up to 80% of women worldwide experience hormone-related issues. Determined to change that, she partnered with Jasmine Tagesson to create a platform that offers more than symptom tracking—it delivers real-time, AI-powered hormone insights.

With backgrounds in consulting, product development, and UX, Karolina and Jasmine designed Hormona to be both scientifically robust and user-friendly. Their approach blends clinical accuracy with intuitive technology, built alongside experts in endocrinology, nutrition, and gynecology.

Their platform now reaches users in over 190 countries, with 80% user retention after 12 months and strong community engagement — including 100M+ Instagram views and 5M+ TikTok likes. These numbers speak to a major unmet need: women want tools that empower them to understand and manage their hormones.

From Guesswork to Precision: Hormona’s AI-Powered At-Home Testing

What makes Hormona truly different is how it moves hormone care from reactive to proactive. Most apps today focus on fertility or track symptoms with limited data. Hormona goes further, offering fully quantitative hormone testing at home — no lab visits required.

Its proprietary urine-based test provides lab-grade results in just 15 minutes, with over 90% accuracy compared to traditional blood tests. More than just measuring one hormone, Hormona’s test analyzes multiple, giving users a comprehensive view of their hormonal landscape.

AI plays a major role here. Instead of offering one-time snapshots, Hormona’s platform continuously monitors hormone levels, spotting trends and identifying potential issues early. It provides personalized insights, lifestyle guidance, symptom management tips, and even supplement recommendations — all based on a woman’s cycle and data.

While traditional hormone tests can cost around $174 per session, Hormona offers a cost-effective, ongoing solution—making routine hormone health checks as common as monitoring blood pressure. That’s a game-changer, especially considering that women spend 25% more of their lives in poor health compared to men. Hormona is working to close that gap, one user at a time.

The company is already rolling out B2B partnerships, offering phase-specific health updates and support tips to partner platforms. It’s a move that not only strengthens its revenue model but helps bring hormone literacy into mainstream health ecosystems.

Empowering Women, Changing Healthcare

Hormona’s rise signals a much-needed shift in how we think about women’s health. With bold tech and a clear mission, the company is building the infrastructure for a new standard in hormone care—one that’s real-time, data-driven, and tailored to women’s lives.

Investors see the momentum. Inka Mero of Voima Ventures believes Hormona is “pioneering a global movement in women’s health,” while Gina King of SuperNode calls it “the future of personalized, proactive care.” Both highlight how Hormona is reshaping an industry that’s been stuck in the past.

As it scales, Hormona aims to make hormonal health tracking as routine and vital as glucose or blood pressure monitoring. Through accessible tools, AI-driven analysis, and a powerful community, it’s empowering women to take control of their bodies — and rewriting the rules of healthcare in the process.
