Google is now rolling out Gemini Live camera and screenshare features to users of the Pixel 9 series and Samsung Galaxy S25. Delivering a major upgrade to its conversational AI assistant. These tools allow users to ask Gemini questions about what they’re seeing in real time. Whether through the camera or their smartphone screen.

The new capabilities, originally showcased during Google’s I/O developer conference under “Project Astra. Are part of a free update for Android. However, to unlock Gemini Live’s full interactive power, including real-time camera and screenshare queries. Users must subscribe to the Gemini Advanced plan.

Once enabled, Gemini Live adds a camera button and a new screenshare icon to your chat interface. Tap the camera, and Gemini can identify objects or offer real-time insights about what it sees. Whether it’s identifying fish in an aquarium or interpreting a chart in a textbook. Tap the screenshare button, and you can show Gemini a product page or document. Then ask for comparisons, summaries, or style tips.

A recent April Pixel Drop video from Google demonstrates the tool’s versatility—from analyzing live environments to assisting with shopping and web browsing. The rollout is underway, with some users even confirming access on non-Google devices like Xiaomi phones, according to recent Reddit posts.

Google spokesperson Alex Joseph confirmed to The Verge last month that the features were gradually launching, and they are now more widely appearing on eligible Android devices.

Currently, Gemini Live is supported in 45 languages and available in select countries to users aged 18 and over. The update does not apply to education or enterprise accounts.
