Raj Aggarwal is stepping down as AWS General Manager of Generative AI and Revenue Acceleration after nearly three years, according to a LinkedIn post he shared on Wednesday.
“I’m proud of the pioneering work our team did in generative AI from its earliest days,” Aggarwal wrote. “We built what might be the world’s first large-scale generative AI products—launched to tens of thousands of sellers, used hundreds of thousands of times, driving a 4.9% increase in pipeline generation.”
During his tenure, Aggarwal played a key role in AWS’s generative AI initiatives, contributing to foundational AI models, the Bedrock AI development platform, and Amazon’s business-focused AI assistant, Amazon Q.
Now, Aggarwal plans to return to entrepreneurship, announcing his intention to launch a new company. However, he has not disclosed specific details about his next venture.
Aggarwal is no stranger to startups. In 2009, he founded Localytics, a mobile analytics and messaging platform that raised over $69 million in venture funding before being acquired by Upland BlueVenn in 2020. He left Localytics in 2017 and went on to co-found Demand Sage, an AI-powered sales analytics platform, in 2018. Demand Sage secured $3 million in venture capital before being acquired by Snap in April 2021, where Aggarwal later served as Head of Product and Growth in the R&D group. He joined AWS in 2022.
With his track record in AI and data analytics, Aggarwal’s next move is highly anticipated.
