With unplanned machine downtime costing European industrial companies an estimated €500 billion annually, the need for smarter, more efficient maintenance solutions is growing urgent. That’s where remberg steps in, a Munich-based software startup that just secured €15 million in Series A+ funding to expand its AI-powered maintenance platform across Europe.
The round was co-led by Acton Capital (Munich) and Oxx (London), with continued support from Earlybird, Speedinvest, Fly Ventures, and angel investors including the founders of Personio, Forto, and Celonis. The fresh capital brings remberg’s total funding to €28 million and will be used to fuel product development and pan-European expansion.
Modernizing Maintenance for the AI Era
Founded in 2018 by four Technical University of Munich alumni—David Hahn, Julian Borg, Cecil Wöbker, and Hagen Schmidtchen—remberg grew out of the Centre for Digital Technology and Management (CDTM), a joint initiative between TUM and LMU Munich that’s known for producing successful deep tech startups.
The team recognized that maintenance processes in mechanical engineering lagged a decade behind digital transformation trends in other sectors. Too many mid-sized industrial firms still rely on paper, spreadsheets, and aging ERP systems to manage their service workflows—leading to costly inefficiencies and unplanned machine breakdowns.
remberg’s mission is clear: bring European industry into the AI age. Its cloud-based platform, powered by artificial intelligence, enables companies to digitize, automate, and optimize maintenance and asset management operations. The software manages everything from machines and vehicles to equipment and buildings, streamlining tasks like service requests, maintenance planning, documentation, and audit compliance.
The XRM Advantage and Mobile-First Design
At the core of remberg’s offering is its XRM System—Extended Relationship Management—which puts the focus not just on customers, but on the physical assets themselves. The platform enables predictive maintenance, seamless IT integration, mobile accessibility (including full offline functionality), and intuitive interfaces that make adoption fast and frictionless.
Unlike legacy CMMS platforms like MaintainX, UpKeep, or Limble, remberg was designed mobile-first. Factory-floor workers can scan a QR code on a malfunctioning machine and instantly access an AI-powered assistant that offers troubleshooting advice tailored to that machine’s service history and data profile.
The platform’s AI Copilot anticipates issues before they arise, helping teams maximize uptime, reduce repair costs, and meet regulatory standards—all while improving audit readiness.
Trusted by Industry Leaders
More than 150 industrial customers already rely on remberg, including companies from the Würth Group, SCHUNK, Edding, Brandt Zwieback-Schokoladen, and Minimax Fire Solutions. In total, these companies manage over 1 million assets through the platform—positioning remberg as a rising leader in next-gen CMMS and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solutions.
As geopolitical tensions and supply chain constraints continue to pressure European manufacturers, remberg’s offering is becoming mission-critical.
“Europe’s industrial sector needs homegrown solutions,” said CEO David Hahn. “We can’t afford to outsource software infrastructure tied to manufacturing, machines, and sensitive data. That’s exactly what remberg is building—a European foundation for the AI-powered industrial future.”
Philip Edmondson-Jones, Partner at Oxx, called remberg “an indispensable system of record for forward-thinking industrial companies,” while Acton Capital’s Julius Lühr added: “In the current geopolitical climate, machine uptime and cost control are more critical than ever—remberg provides the digital infrastructure for both.”
With its unique blend of industrial expertise, AI innovation, and mobile-first usability, remberg is positioning itself not just as a tool, but as the digital backbone for the future of European manufacturing.
