Grok, the AI chatbot developed by Elon Musk’s xAI, has launched a new feature called Grok Studio, enabling users to create and edit documents and simple apps.

Announced late Tuesday on X, Grok Studio is now live for both free and paid users at Grok.com.

According to the official Grok account, the new tool allows Grok to generate and collaborate on “documents, code, reports, and browser games.” All content appears in a separate window, creating a side-by-side workspace for real-time interaction between Grok and the user.

Grok Studio mirrors other canvas-style tools recently introduced by competitors. OpenAI rolled out Canvas for ChatGPT in October, while Anthropic released Artifacts for Claude. These features aim to give users a dedicated space for writing and coding.

Functionally, Grok Studio supports code preview and execution for languages like Python, JavaScript, and C++, along with HTML snippets. It doesn’t introduce radically new features but follows the trend of integrating collaborative environments into chatbots.

What may give Grok Studio an edge is its integration with Google Drive, also announced today. Users can now attach files from Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides directly into their prompts. This enhancement lets Grok interact with a broader range of file types, potentially streamlining workflows for students, professionals, and developers.
