Enterprises today have access to countless security apps designed to protect their networks, data, and assets. However, managing the flood of alerts and additional workload generated by these solutions can be overwhelming. What if businesses could create their own cybersecurity tools, tailored precisely to their needs?
That’s the vision behind Sola, a new Israeli startup that has developed a low-code/no-code platform for designing custom security applications. Emerging from stealth with a $30 million seed funding round, Sola aims to democratize cybersecurity by enabling organizations to build personalized security solutions without requiring deep technical expertise.
According to co-founder Guy Flechter, Sola is not just another cybersecurity posture management tool. “We’re not trying to be another next-generation CPSM or ASPM,” he stated. “We want to change the way security is handled—just like Stripe did for payments or Canva for design.”
The funding round was co-led by S Capital—a firm founded by the former Sequoia Israel team—and Mike Moritz, a former Sequoia Capital investor. Additional backing came from S32, Glilot Capital Partners, and several angel investors. While Sola has been operating for about a year, details about its funding and product only recently surfaced as the company officially stepped into the spotlight.
Meet the Founders
Sola was co-founded by Guy Flechter and Ron Peled, two industry veterans with extensive experience in cybersecurity. Flechter previously co-founded Cider Security, a company specializing in application security that was acquired by Palo Alto Networks for $300 million in 2022. Peled, on the other hand, brings an end-user perspective, having served as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at LivePerson and advising multiple security companies.
Their combined expertise addresses a crucial cybersecurity challenge: balancing cost-effective security solutions with technical accessibility.
Organizations currently face two primary approaches to cybersecurity:
- Expensive, pre-built solutions – These offer comprehensive security but often cost six figures while including features that may never be fully utilized.
- Custom-built solutions using open-source tools – While cost-effective, this requires a high level of technical expertise, making it inaccessible for many businesses.
Sola introduces a third option—a low/no-code platform that simplifies security management while maintaining flexibility and affordability.
How Sola Works: AI-Powered, No-Code Cybersecurity Apps
Sola’s platform integrates AI and big data technologies, enabling businesses—regardless of their security team size—to create and customize security applications easily. Key features include:
- Natural Language Interface: Users can set security goals or ask questions in plain English.
- Seamless Data Integration: Pulls information from multiple sources to track security metrics.
- Pre-Built & Custom Apps: Organizations can choose from ready-made solutions or design their own apps.
For instance, Sola can be used to query existing security tools or even replace certain functionalities within an organization’s security stack.
Sola’s app gallery provides a glimpse into its capabilities. For example, its AWS Network Security app offers insights into key security metrics such as:
- Identifying overly permissive security groups
- Checking enabled network protocols
- Detecting unprotected open ports
- Reviewing the status of VPC flow logs
Beyond AWS, Sola provides dozens of pre-configured apps for other cloud environments, developer platforms like GitHub, and widely used security tools like Okta and Wiz.
Mike Moritz, who is making his first solo investment in a cybersecurity startup, sees Sola’s potential in simplifying complex security processes. He compares its AI-driven backend to the success of Stripe in payments and Canva in design.
“Sola is leveraging AI breakthroughs at an incredible speed,” he noted. “Its interface has evolved significantly over the past 18 months thanks to rapid advancements in AI technology.”
Sola’s mission to simplify security while lowering costs could make a significant impact in the cybersecurity space. By providing a no-code, AI-powered security app builder, it opens the door for companies of all sizes to take control of their cybersecurity strategy without excessive spending or technical barriers.
With $30 million in funding, strong leadership, and a disruptive approach, Sola could redefine how businesses approach security management—offering customized, efficient, and affordable solutions in an industry that has long been dominated by high-cost, complex tools.
